## Easee One features explained

### What is the Easee One?

The Easee One is a single-phase home charger from Easee, a Norwegian company based in Stavanger. Easee says it developed the One specifically for the UK domestic market, and sells it in the UK, Ireland, Norway and France. It has a Type 2 socket, a built-in mobile data connection and integrated protection that Easee says removes the need for an earth rod.

### Charging power: 7.4 kW single-phase, no 22 kW version

The Easee One charges on a single-phase supply from 1.4 kW (6 A) to 7.4 kW (32 A), adjusting the power dynamically. There is no three-phase Easee One; Easee sells other models for three-phase homes. The rate your car charges at is also limited by its own onboard charger.

### Untethered: a Type 2 socket

The One has a Type 2 socket, so you use your own cable. Easee says the cable can be permanently locked into the socket from the Easee app, which lets you use it as a tethered charger and switch back.

### Solar charging with an add-on sensor

Easee's UK product sheet lists solar charging support, but marks it, along with automatic phase balancing and automatic adjustment to the available current, as requiring the Easee Equalizer. The Equalizer is a separate accessory.

### Smart charging with Octopus, E.ON Next and OVO

Easee says its app offers smart charging with a range of energy tariffs in the UK and Ireland, charging the car when energy is cheapest, and notes that some solutions may incur costs from third-party integrators.

On the energy suppliers' own lists (checked 4 October 2026), Easee is not listed by Octopus for Intelligent Octopus Go, by OVO for Charge Anytime, or by E.ON Next for Next Drive Smart. Octopus and OVO can also connect through compatible cars rather than the charger.

### Load balancing, earthing and installation

Up to three Easee units can share one fuse using a built-in wireless link, with automatic queuing and load balancing between them that Easee says works offline. Automatic adjustment of the charging speed to the current available from your supply needs the Easee Equalizer. The One has an integrated RCD (30 mA AC and 6 mA DC) and integrated open PEN conductor protection to BS 7671:2018/A1:2020; Easee says this means no earth rod is needed. It also lists temperature monitoring, overload protection and an RCD that self-tests between charging sessions.

### App, Wi-Fi and connectivity

The Easee One has a built-in eSIM (LTE Cat M1) and can also connect over Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz). It supports OCPP 1.6 and has an open API. An RFID and NFC reader (ISO 14443, MIFARE Classic) handles access control. Control is through the Easee app, Bluetooth or the local Wi-Fi interface, and Easee says software updates are installed automatically.

### Size and dimensions: 256 x 193 x 106 mm

The One measures 256 x 193 x 106 mm (height x width x depth) and weighs 1.5 kg. It is rated IP54 (the backplate is IP22 without its cover) and IK10, and operates from -30°C to +40°C. The front cover comes in five colours: white, black, anthracite, dark blue and red. Easee lists compliance with the Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021.

### Warranty: 3 years

Easee's product sheet lists a 3-year manufacturer guarantee in the UK.

## Easee One installation

- **Supply:** Single-phase, up to 7.4 kW
- **Earthing:** PEN fault protection built in, according to Easee
- **Protection:** Integrated RCD (30 mA AC / 6 mA DC); open PEN conductor protection; temperature monitoring and overload protection
- **Load management:** With an extra accessory: load balancing between up to three Easee units on one fuse
- **Solar sensor:** Sold separately: a sensor or meter is needed for solar charging
- **Connection:** Wi-Fi, 4G (eSIM, LTE Cat M1) and Bluetooth

1. **Survey.** An installer checks your supply, consumer unit, main fuse and earthing, and where the charger and its cable will go. Many do this from photos first.
2. **Notify the network operator (DNO).** Your installer tells your local network operator (DNO) about the charger, and applies first where the supply needs checking.
3. **Fit and test.** The charger goes on its own circuit and is tested. Ask for the supply sensor for solar charging to be fitted on the same visit.
4. **Connect it.** The installer connects the charger to Wi-Fi, 4G or Bluetooth and sets it up in the maker's app.
5. **Set up your tariff.** Set a charging schedule for your tariff's cheap hours. Smart tariffs that control the charger directly do not list it, but some work through a compatible car.

## Quick answers

- **Max power:** 7.4 kW single-phase.
- **Tethered or socket:** Type 2 socket with app-controlled cable lock.
- **Solar charging:** Yes, with a separately sold sensor or meter. Solar charging needs the Easee Equalizer, sold separately.
- **Intelligent Octopus Go:** It is not on Octopus's list of supported chargers (checked October 2026). Intelligent Octopus Go can still work through a compatible car, and Octopus Go works with any charger set to a timer.
- **E.ON Next Drive Smart and OVO Charge Anytime:** Not on E.ON Next's Next Drive Smart list; not on OVO's Charge Anytime list (both checked 4 October 2026).
- **PEN fault protection:** Built in, according to Easee. Your installer still confirms the earthing for your home.
- **Load management:** With an extra accessory. Load balancing between up to three Easee units on one fuse.
- **Connectivity:** Wi-Fi, 4G (eSIM, LTE Cat M1) and Bluetooth; OCPP 1.6.
- **Vehicle-to-grid or vehicle-to-home:** No.
- **Warranty:** 3 years, UK.
- **Updated:** October 2026, from Easee's own documents and the Octopus, OVO and E.ON Next charger lists.

## Easee One FAQs

### Is the Easee One tethered or untethered?

It has a Type 2 socket, so you plug in your own cable. Easee says the cable can be permanently locked into the socket using the Easee app, so it can be used like a tethered charger.

### Can the Easee One charge from solar?

Easee's product sheet lists solar charging support, automatic phase balancing and automatic adjustment to the available current, all of which require the Easee Equalizer, a separate accessory.

### Does the Easee One need an earth rod?

Easee lists integrated open PEN conductor protection, which it says means there is no need for an earth rod. Your installer confirms the earthing arrangement for your property.

### Does the Easee One work with Intelligent Octopus Go?

Easee is not on Octopus's list of supported chargers for Intelligent Octopus Go (checked 4 October 2026). Octopus can also connect through some cars instead of the charger, so check whether your car is supported. Easee says its app offers smart charging with a range of energy tariffs in the UK and Ireland.

### What warranty does the Easee One have?

Easee's product sheet lists a 3-year manufacturer guarantee for the UK.

### Which chargers are similar to the Easee One?

Cord Zero, EO Mini Pro 3 and Hive EV Charger (Sync Energy Wall Charger 2) share the most charger types with it (such as solar charging, cable type and smart tariff listings). They are listed by how many types they share, then A to Z; this is not a ranking. Compare any two side by side on our compare page.

### Does the Easee One support V2H or V2G?

No. Easee does not publish vehicle-to-home (V2H) or vehicle-to-grid (V2G) support for the Easee One, so it charges the car only.

### How much does the Easee One cost?

We do not list prices, because they change often and most people buy a charger fitted, so the price depends on the installer and your home. Ask two or three installers for a fitted price for the Easee One by name. If you rent, or own a flat with private off-street parking, the EV chargepoint grant can cover 75% of the cost of buying and installing a chargepoint, up to £500.

## EV charger terms explained

- **Untethered (socket) charger:** A charger with a Type 2 socket instead of a fixed cable, so you plug in your own charging cable.
- **Type 2:** The standard connector for AC charging on cars sold in the UK and Europe.
- **Single-phase and three-phase:** Most UK homes have a single-phase supply, which limits a home charger to about 7 kW (32 A). A 22 kW charger needs a three-phase supply, and the car must accept 22 kW on AC to use it.
- **kW and kWh:** kW is charging power; kWh is energy. A 7 kW charger adds up to about 7 kWh an hour, less charging losses.
- **Solar charging:** A mode that varies the charging current to follow surplus solar generation, measured by a sensor on your supply, so the car uses power you would otherwise export.
- **CT clamp:** A current sensor clipped around a supply cable. It tells the charger how much power the home is importing or exporting.
- **Load management:** The charger lowers its charging current when the rest of the home is using a lot of power, so the main fuse is not overloaded.
- **PEN fault protection:** Protection that disconnects the charger if the combined neutral and earth (PEN) conductor in the supply fails. Chargers with it built in can usually be installed without an earth rod; your installer confirms what your supply needs.
- **RCD and RCBO:** Devices that cut the power if current leaks to earth. Some chargers need a Type A RCD or RCBO fitted at the consumer unit; the maker's installation notes say which.
- **OCPP:** Open Charge Point Protocol, an open standard that lets a charger connect to a third-party management platform as well as the maker's app.
- **RFID:** A card or key fob reader on the charger, used to stop other people starting a charge.
- **IP and IK ratings:** IP rates protection against dust and water (IP65 is dust tight and protected against water jets); IK rates impact resistance, from IK00 to IK10.
- **Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-home (V2H):** Sending power from the car's battery back to the grid or the home. It needs a bidirectional charger, a compatible car and approval from your network operator, and V2G also needs a supplier offer.
- **Smart tariff charger list:** The chargers an energy supplier says it can control for its smart EV tariff, such as Octopus's list for Intelligent Octopus Go. Suppliers add and remove chargers, so we show the date we checked.
- **EV chargepoint grant:** A GOV.UK grant for people who rent, or own a flat, with private off-street parking. It can cover 75% of the cost of buying and installing a chargepoint, up to £500 (checked 4 October 2026).
