In plain English: BestChargers.co.uk earns a commission when you switch energy supplier or make a purchase via certain links on this site. This never affects what we recommend; our editorial team operates independently of our commercial partnerships.
How we earn money
BestChargers.co.uk is an independent comparison and review website. We earn revenue in three main ways:
- Affiliate commissions: When you click a link to an energy supplier, charger manufacturer, or installer and complete a qualifying action (such as switching tariff or purchasing a charger), we may earn a commission from the relevant company or affiliate network. The commission is paid by the company, not by you.
- Advertising: Some guides and articles carry display advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertising is kept off our charger reviews, tariff pages and electric car pages, and advertisers have no say in what we write.
- Directory advertising: Installers can pay for clearly labelled featured listings and city sponsorship panels in our installer directory. Paid placement never affects an installer's position in free listings, our editorial content, or whether we feature them in reviews.
We do not accept payment for editorial recommendations, positive reviews, or higher placement in our comparison tables. Our rankings are based on independently assessed scores and ratings.
How to spot an affiliate link
We label affiliate links so you know before you click:
- Every section that contains affiliate links shows an "Affiliate disclosure" notice directly above the links.
- Affiliate links open the partner's website in a new tab and carry the
rel="sponsored"attribute, in line with Google's link guidelines. - Links to installers in our directory, to official sources such as GOV.UK and Ofgem, and to other reference material are not affiliate links and earn us nothing.
Where a partner offers a sign-up incentive, such as the credit of up to £50 available when switching to Octopus Energy through our link, we state that it is subject to the partner's own terms and conditions. The incentive is paid by the partner and we do not control eligibility.
Our affiliate partners
We currently earn commission through direct partnerships and affiliate networks, including the Awin network. Partners include energy suppliers such as Octopus Energy and E.ON Next, and salary sacrifice and leasing providers such as Octopus Electric Vehicles. This list changes as partnerships start and end; the notice above each set of links reflects the position at the time the page was last updated.
BestChargers.co.uk is not owned by, operated by, or endorsed by any energy supplier, charger manufacturer, or installer.
Our editorial independence
Our editorial team assesses chargers, tariffs, and installers independently. Affiliate relationships and directory advertising do not influence:
- Scores or ratings assigned to chargers, tariffs, or providers
- Position in comparison tables, which are sorted by our own assessment, never by commission
- Whether a product is recommended or criticised in a review
- Which products we choose to review
- An installer's position in our free directory listings; paid placement is always labelled "Featured" or "Sponsored" and kept separate from ranked free listings
If we believe a product is not worth recommending, we will say so clearly, regardless of any commercial relationship.
Price accuracy
We make every effort to keep pricing and tariff information up to date, but rates change frequently. Always verify current prices directly with the provider before making a decision. We display the date of our last review on all tariff and product pages.
