How the Volkswagen ID.4 Pro compares to similar EVs on battery, range, home charging speed and V2X capability.
ID.4 Pro
Volkswagen CCS
Spacious, practical, and better than early models, but the ID.4 Pro's 135kW DC ceiling limits its appeal against sharper rivals.
IONIQ 5 Long Range RWD
Hyundai CCS
220kW DC charging and V2L standard; a stronger motorway touring package
EV6 Long Range RWD
Kia CCS
800V architecture with V2L and quicker DC charging at a comparable price
Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive
Tesla CCS
Better DC charging speed, frunk storage, and Supercharger access
Not in the UK currently. Volkswagen has trialled V2G capability on the MEB platform in European pilot programmes, but UK-market ID.4 models do not support V2L, V2H, or V2G as standard. No firm UK timeline has been announced.
135kW peak via CCS. A 10–80% charge takes around 36 minutes. This is noticeably slower than the Hyundai Ioniq 5 Long Range (220kW) and Tesla Model Y RWD (250kW), though on par with the BMW iX1.
543 litres with seats up, which is generous for the class. There is no front storage frunk. The rear seats split 60/40 and fold flat for longer loads.
It depends on charging stops. The 77kWh usable battery gives solid range, but 135kW DC peak means longer stops than rivals. Plan around Ionity or Pod Point Ultra-Rapid sites for best results.
