Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive
Tesla CCS
A practical family SUV with a large boot and tow rating, but efficiency lags behind rivals and there is no vehicle-to-load capability.
IONIQ 5 Long Range RWD
Hyundai CCS
Better efficiency, V2L and V2H support, and a roomier interior for a similar price.
ID.4 Pro
Volkswagen CCS
Family SUV rival with a more conventional driving experience and strong dealer network.
EV6 Long Range RWD
Kia CCS
Lower, sportier alternative with V2L and 800V ultra-rapid charging.
Very practical. It offers 854 litres of boot space, a 1,600kg tow rating, and seats five adults. The high roofline and upright seating position give good headroom. A front boot (frunk) adds a small additional storage area.
No. No current UK Tesla model supports V2L, V2H, or V2G. If powering camping equipment or running appliances from your car is important, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 offer V2L as standard from their Type 2 port.
The Model Y is heavier and has a larger, less aerodynamic body than the Model 3 saloon. The 70kWh usable battery produces 299 miles WLTP in the Y versus 305 miles in the Model 3 Standard Range, which has a smaller 57.5kWh pack but a more aerodynamic shape.
The Model Y RWD supports up to 250kW DC charging. The 10–80% charge is expected to complete in around 25 minutes at a compatible Supercharger, based on the spec. Real-world speeds depend on charger output and battery temperature.
