Tesla Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive FAQs

How practical is the Model Y RWD as a family car?

Very practical. It offers 854 litres of boot space, a 1,600kg tow rating, and seats five adults. The high roofline and upright seating position give good headroom. A front boot (frunk) adds a small additional storage area.

Does the Model Y RWD support V2L or V2H?

No. No current UK Tesla model supports V2L, V2H, or V2G. If powering camping equipment or running appliances from your car is important, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 offer V2L as standard from their Type 2 port.

Why is the WLTP range lower than the Model 3 despite a similar battery?

The Model Y is heavier and has a larger, less aerodynamic body than the Model 3 saloon. The 70kWh usable battery produces 299 miles WLTP in the Y versus 305 miles in the Model 3 Standard Range, which has a smaller 57.5kWh pack but a more aerodynamic shape.

What is the Model Y RWD's charging speed at a rapid charger?

The Model Y RWD supports up to 250kW DC charging. The 10–80% charge is expected to complete in around 25 minutes at a compatible Supercharger, based on the spec. Real-world speeds depend on charger output and battery temperature.
