Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD FAQs

What does the AWD drivetrain add over the Long Range RWD?

The Long Range AWD adds a second motor on the front axle for all-wheel drive traction. This gives improved grip in slippery conditions and allows a 1,000kg tow rating. The trade-off is a slightly lower WLTP range of 358 miles versus 390 miles for the RWD variant.

Can the Model 3 Long Range AWD tow a caravan or trailer?

Yes, it is rated to tow up to 1,000kg braked. That covers lightweight trailers and small caravans. For heavier loads, a Model Y Long Range AWD with its 1,600kg rating would be more appropriate.

Does the Model 3 Long Range AWD support V2L or V2H?

No. Like all current UK Tesla models, this variant does not support vehicle-to-load, vehicle-to-home, or vehicle-to-grid. Competitors including the Kia EV6 AWD and Hyundai Ioniq 5 AWD include V2L as standard.

How does the charge speed compare to the Long Range RWD?

Both share the same 250kW maximum DC charge rate, so the 10–80% rapid-charge time of approximately 25 minutes is identical. The AC onboard charger is also the same at 11kW.
